Transportation Internship Maintenance Worker - Temporary-State of Vermont

This temporary position offers hands-on experience contributing to Vermont’s transportation infrastructure. Qualifications:

  • Between the ages of 16 and 18 (must be 16 by the start date) and actively pursuing a high school diploma or equivalent (students nearing graduation preferred).
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of hand tools (a plus).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist experienced maintenance workers with tasks like patching potholes, repairing guardrails, and cleaning roadsides.
  • Participate in snow and ice control operations during winter months.
  • Help with bridge washing and other routine maintenance activities.
  • Learn proper safety procedures and safe work practices.
  • May assist with traffic control measures.
