Summary:
Gear up for a rewarding summer with the Vermont Agency of Transportation’s (AOT) Transportation Intern Maintenance Worker program! This temporary position offers hands-on experience contributing to Vermont’s transportation infrastructure. Qualifications:
- Between the ages of 16 and 18 (must be 16 by the start date) and actively pursuing a high school diploma or equivalent (students nearing graduation preferred).
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of hand tools (a plus).
- Valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities:
- Assist experienced maintenance workers with tasks like patching potholes, repairing guardrails, and cleaning roadsides.
- Participate in snow and ice control operations during winter months.
- Help with bridge washing and other routine maintenance activities.
- Learn proper safety procedures and safe work practices.
- May assist with traffic control measures.
