Summary:

Calling all aspiring sports turf managers! The NC-SFMA Sports Field Internship Co-Op program offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the dynamic world of professional sports field management. Partner with Tepper Sports & Entertainment and Charlotte FC, working alongside seasoned professionals to maintain the pristine playing surface of Bank of America Stadium, home to the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in turfgrass management, horticulture, or a related field.
  • Strong work ethic and a dedication to maintaining top-quality playing surfaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining various sports field equipment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A valid driver’s license (preferred).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of sports field maintenance, including:
  • Seedling, planting, and sod installation
  • Mowing, edging, and fertilizing
  • Aeration, sprigging, and topdressing
  • Irrigation system management
  • Pest and disease control
  • Field preparation for games and events
  • Contribute to research and development projects related to sports field management.
  • Assist with special events and game-day operations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all activities performed.
