Calling all aspiring sports turf managers! The NC-SFMA Sports Field Internship Co-Op program offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the dynamic world of professional sports field management. Partner with Tepper Sports & Entertainment and Charlotte FC, working alongside seasoned professionals to maintain the pristine playing surface of Bank of America Stadium, home to the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in turfgrass management, horticulture, or a related field.
- Strong work ethic and a dedication to maintaining top-quality playing surfaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining various sports field equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license (preferred).
Responsibilities:
- Assist with all aspects of sports field maintenance, including:
- Seedling, planting, and sod installation
- Mowing, edging, and fertilizing
- Aeration, sprigging, and topdressing
- Irrigation system management
- Pest and disease control
- Field preparation for games and events
- Contribute to research and development projects related to sports field management.
- Assist with special events and game-day operations as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all activities performed.
