Goethe-Institut & LIA Art Residency

Cameroonian Artists’ Exchange in Leipzig

Summary:

The Goethe-Institut Cameroon collaborates with the Leipzig International Art Programme to offer a three-month residency in Leipzig, Germany. This opportunity, available from August to October 2024, is part of an exchange that encourages artistic experimentation and cultural dialogue within the vibrant Spinnerei Leipzig community.

Application Requirements:

  • Open to Cameroonian artists fluent in English.
  • Submission of a single PDF containing:
  • A 500-word expression of interest detailing the intended project or research, with a focus on the colonial past or restitution debate.
  • A CV or biography highlighting professional art practice, exhibitions, and education.
  • Up to 6 images or multimedia links of the artist’s work.
  • Email subject line: “Open Call Cameroon.”

Fellowship Benefits:

  • Free accommodation in an 83 sqm studio.
  • Travel, flight, visa, and health insurance coverage.
  • A monthly stipend of €760.
  • Curatorial guidance from LIA director Anna-Louise Rolland.
  • Participation in a group show during the Spinnerei Gallery Tour.

  • One artist will be selected for the residency.
