Student Assistant (Archives Internship) - State of Michigan

This is an exciting opportunity for a history buff or someone interested in library science to gain valuable experience working in a professional archival setting. As a Student Assistant (Archives Intern), you’ll contribute to the important work of preserving Michigan’s history by assisting the Archives of Michigan staff.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Strong interest in history and archival practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing archival collections, including arranging, describing, and preserving historical documents and artifacts
  • Research and answer inquiries from researchers and the public
  • Create digital scans of archival materials
  • Assist with maintaining archival databases and finding aids
  • May participate in outreach programs and events
