This is an exciting opportunity for a history buff or someone interested in library science to gain valuable experience working in a professional archival setting. As a Student Assistant (Archives Intern), you’ll contribute to the important work of preserving Michigan’s history by assisting the Archives of Michigan staff.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Strong interest in history and archival practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with processing archival collections, including arranging, describing, and preserving historical documents and artifacts
- Research and answer inquiries from researchers and the public
- Create digital scans of archival materials
- Assist with maintaining archival databases and finding aids
- May participate in outreach programs and events
