Scholarship Coverage

    The Rhodes Scholarship might cover a third year for students aiming for a DPhil (PhD), but you’ll need to apply.

    Who can apply?

    • Check your passport: Make sure you’re from a country eligible for the scholarship (see the list online).
    • Got good grades? You’ll need a strong academic record and meet Oxford’s tough standards. In Canada, that means a GPA of at least 3.75 out of 4.0.
    • How old are you? Age limits vary, but most are 18-28 by October of the year after selection. Check your specific country’s rules.
  •  Successful students will come to Oxford in October, following the selection process. In most cases, the scholarship cannot be delayed.
  • Required Language: English.

  • Four private reference letters from appraisers who can attest to the applicant’s character and intellect, including academic, personal, extracurricular, and leadership achievements (and who should never include relatives).
