It is undertaking resilience-reinforcing actions that specifically focus on protecting agriculture livelihoods and local ecosystems, while simultaneously boosting local production of nutritious foods and cash incomes. Moreover, FAO is dedicated to safeguarding the critical agriculture sectoral development gains achieved over the past couple of decades through revitalizing rural markets and the economy. In 2024-2026, FAO will continue to implement emergency and longer-term, resilience-building projects and programmes in the context of the UN Strategic Framework for Afghanistan (UNSFA) and the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan.

Education & Qualifications Requirements:

  • Advanced University (Master) degree or University (Bachelor) degree in a relevant subject such as agriculture, communication studies, journalism, environmental sciences, nutrition and food security, social sciences, or a closely related field.

Work Experiences:

  •  For an Advanced University degree, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant subject such as agriculture, communication studies, journalism, environmental sciences, nutrition and food security, social sciences, or a closely related field.
  • For University degree, a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant subject such as agriculture, communication studies, journalism, environmental sciences, nutrition and food security, social sciences, or a closely related field.
  •  Ability to identify and resolve problems expeditiously and pragmatically.
  •  Ability to use a logical and structured approach to collate, archive and synthesis information.

Languages:

  • Working knowledge (level C) of English and the local languages (Pashto and/or Dari).

Career Key Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations: Foster and maintain relations with Afghan media outlets and journalists, develop coproductions, facilitate interviews, pitch press releases, monitor media coverage, and update contact list regularly.
  • Public Liaison: Develop relationships with national stakeholders, consult with FAO team leaders for guidance, coordinate with partners for communication products, and perform assigned duties.
  • Communications: Translate and edit materials, conduct terminology research, collect information for case studies and social media content, prepare content calendar, contribute to communication plans, and ensure compliance with FAO standards.
