Education & Qualifications Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in environmental, health or development disciplines from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of professional work experience.
  • University degree in environmental, health or development disciplines from an accredited academic institution with at least four years of professional work experience.

Work Experiences: 

  • Experience in coordinating or managing  migration or other development related projects, preferably  in the Middle East and at the regional level.
  • Experience working on migration issues with government entities, UN agencies, or other developmental partners and civil society actors.
  • Good understanding of working in UN or International Non-Governmental Organizations is an asset.
  • Experience of working in the field of health and migrants is a strong requirement.
  • Practical experience in financial monitoring and providing budgetary oversight of projects is a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of or experience in working on climate change, environmental degradation and migration is a desired asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).

Rewritten Career Key Responsibilities:

Manage and Coordinate Regional MMPTF Program

  • Streamline Implementation: Establish communication channels with target country program leads, WHO, and UNDRR to ensure a successful and timely regional rollout of the MMPTF program.
    • Facilitate the activation of the regional Project Advisory Committee.
    • Monitor the functionality of the Project Steering Committee in each target country.
  • Oversee Financial Management: Collaborate with Regional Technical Support (RTS) teams, the Regional Office (RO) finance department, and program leads to meticulously monitor program finances.
    • Ensure adherence to budget allocations and track spending rates for optimal resource utilization.
    • Identify potential risks and alert country offices for timely mitigation.
    • Report budget modifications to senior management, partners, and donors.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Lead the compilation of data for project activities, donor reports, and other office reports, working closely with WHO, UNDRR, and country program leads.
  • Lead Regional Activities: Spearhead the implementation of specific regional activities in collaboration with WHO and UNDRR.
  • Liaison and Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact with the MMPTF Fund Management Unit (FMU), providing regular updates on progress and potential implementation challenges.
    • Collaborate with the Regional M&E and Risk Reduction Officer to develop the program’s monitoring and evaluation strategy.

Strengthen Program Impact

  • Field Monitoring: Undertake regular field visits to monitor and support program implementation at the country level.
  • Promote Collaboration: Establish and maintain coordination with RTS teams regarding operational progress, regional initiatives, and potential program expansion opportunities.
  • Cross-Project Synergy: Coordinate and liaise with other IOM regional and country projects with health and/or climate change aspects to foster collaboration and leverage synergies.
  • Program Expansion: Support the development of regional proposals on migration, health, and climate change with the relevant RTS teams. Aim to broaden the program’s scope and geographical reach to ensure sustainability.
  • Visibility and Promotion: Partner with the Regional Media and Communications Officer to identify opportunities to showcase program achievements through strategic visibility initiatives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other assigned duties as required.
