This Intern – Mining Engineer position offers a unique opportunity for engineering students to gain valuable experience in the dynamic world of aggregate mining. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, contribute to mine operations and planning, and help Hinkle optimize their production processes for success.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in mining engineering or a related field (minimum sophomore year).
  • A strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, including statics, mechanics of materials, and geology (preferred).
  • Proficiency in mining engineering software (a plus).
  • Experience with surveying equipment or drafting tools (a plus).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mine planning and development activities, including analyzing data and preparing technical reports (as applicable).
  • Participate in site visits and learn about various mining operations (e.g., blasting, excavation, hauling).
  • Conduct research on new technologies and best practices in the aggregates mining industry.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient blasting patterns for optimal rock fragmentation.
  • Support with mine safety protocols and environmental compliance measures.
