The Hospitality Professional Internship at The Restaurant Store provides interns with a firsthand experience of day-to-day operations in a retail branch setting and empowers them to contribute to exceptional customer service and satisfaction. Interns will actively work towards operational goals by implementing effective customer service strategies that align with the objectives of sales, purchasing, and inventory teams.

As part of The Restaurant Store (A Clark Associates Company), interns will receive specialized training, engage in round-table discussions with fellow interns from various departments, and participate in a volunteer day that highlights our commitment to community involvement. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to explore Lancaster campus, interact with leaders from all Clark companies, and attend sessions led by the Chairman of the Board and Clark executives. These sessions will cover valuable topics such as “How to Dream,” “Building Your Own Personal Brand,” and “Embracing an Entrepreneurial Spirit.”

Qualification:

    • Prior experience in retail and/or supply chain management is desirable.
    • A high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
    • Fluency in English at a professional level is necessary for this position.

Skill Qualification:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Experience with CRM systems and project management tools is also desirable.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to explain technical and complex concepts in a clear and concise manner for easy comprehension.
  • Demonstrated capability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing business needs and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and emotional intelligence.
  • Embrace a service leadership approach, displaying a strong desire to exceed expectations.

Physical Requirements:

  • The intern is expected to stand and/or walk for extended periods, typically up to 9 hours per day.
  • Effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing is essential.
  • Regular use of hands for basic grasping and intricate manipulations is required.
  • Routine tasks involve bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • The ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, with loads up to 50lbs, is necessary.

Responsibilities:

        • Engage in business-to-business sales and customer service, prioritizing the establishment and growth of relationships with our customer base.
        • Implement the proven TRS process, including building brand awareness, assessing customer needs, exceeding expectations, and fostering loyalty.
        • Perform cashier duties and assist customers in loading products into their vehicles.
        • Maintain the store’s overall cleanliness and organization by conducting general maintenance tasks, including cleaning, merchandising, restocking shelves, and managing incoming stock.
        • Utilize basic inventory information to determine product availability and reorder requirements.
        • Maximize TRS gross profit by promoting our private label brands.
        • Educate potential customers about our competitive advantages, including our exceptional staff, advanced technology, and competitive pricing.
        • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of our website, and provide guidance to customers on how to effectively utilize our “Brick and Click” business model.
