Qualifications

• Strong writing and editing skills with a passion for Florida sports and a specific knowledge of the Orlando sports scene (a plus)
• A keen understanding of current sports news and trends, particularly those relevant to Central Florida
• Familiarity with digital content creation and social media platforms is a plus
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) is a plus (may vary by internship)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and write news articles, blog posts, or features on assigned sports topics specific to Central Florida
• Assist editors with fact-checking, proofreading, and content formatting for the Orlando Sentinel website
• Contribute to social media content creation for the Orlando Sentinel’s sports section
• Attend press conferences and conduct interviews with local athletes or coaches (may vary by internship)
• Assist with sports data analysis or graphics creation specific to Orlando teams (may vary by internship)
• Gain valuable experience in the editorial process, from story ideation to publication
