Summary:

The Women Researchers Fellowship program, a component of the Cross-Border Conflict: Evidence, Policy, and Trends (XCEPT) initiative, is accepting applications for the 2024 cohort. Led by The Asia Foundation and its partners, the program seeks to assist six early career female researchers from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Successful fellows will receive funding to conduct independent research projects, expand their professional networks, and enhance their skill sets. With a focus on conflict-affected border regions, the program aims to contribute to global knowledge of the political, economic, and social dynamics in these areas. The fellowship duration is 12 months, running from March 20, 2024, to March 20, 2025, and will encompass training, networking opportunities, peer learning, and mentorship.

Requirements:

– Female researchers from Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Kenya, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen are eligible to apply.
– Applicants should have recently completed a master’s degree or PhD in fields such as Political Science, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related area.
– Demonstrated interest in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and development initiatives in unstable or conflict-affected contexts.
– Proficiency in written and spoken English to participate in training and produce research outputs.
– Availability to dedicate at least two to three flexible days per week for program activities, including online meetings and in-person events.

Qualifications:

– Strong academic background and research expertise.
– Keen interest in addressing issues related to conflict-affected border regions.
– Ability to work independently and conduct original research.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Date and Location:

– The fellowship program will run from March 20, 2024, to March 20, 2025.
– The program will be conducted remotely, with online training, meetings, and events.
