The Women in Finance and Tech Scholarship is aimed to inspire talented female candidates to pursue graduate studies and a career in finance or technology.BI Norwegian Business School is committed to the UN Sustainability Goals. In particular, BI aims to support efforts towards achieving gender equality. This scholarship is a means to attract and support outstanding female candidates to pursue careers in fields where there is a gender imbalance.

Documentation Requirements:

All candidates must meet academic progression requirements to maintain their scholarship. Detailed requirements are included in the Scholarship Agreement.

Full study progression (30 ECTS) in each semester.
Minimum cumulative GPA of a “B” on the BI ECTS scale after completion of each academic semester.
Candidates who are awarded the Women in Finance and Tech Master Scholarship must be prepared to be “BI Ambassadors”, acting as spokespeople, assisting in recruitment efforts, and promoting a good study environment. Scholarship recipients will be informed about responsibilities during the academic year.

Scholarship benefits:

The Women in Finance and Technology Master Scholarship will cover full tuition fees for up to two years if the student maintains the academic progression requirements for scholarship recipients.

Selection criteria:

BI has a generous scholarship program for master’s studies. However, the competition for scholarships is great. Each year, the number of scholarship applications received from master’s applicants is far greater than the number of scholarships available.

BI Norwegian Business School aims to build a diverse and international student body.
Only applicants who have been admitted to a Master of Science program and have applied as instructed will be considered.
Ensures distribution of scholarships across MSc program.
Reserves the right to award scholarships according to institutional priorities which many include prioritizing specific master’s program, diversity and gender distribution, or selected partner schools of BI.
All candidates will be assessed according to the ECTS scale. Applicants with international bachelor’s degrees will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale.
Other factors that may influence awarding could be other academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, and special personal achievements.

Eligibility:

Female candidates with strong academic records
Female candidates with Norwegian citizenship or international citizenship from EU/EEA/Switzerland.
Citizens of countries from outside the EU/EEA who are residents of Norway may be eligible, depending on their residency status. Please see list on this webpage to determine eligibility. If you fall in this category, include documentation of residency with your scholarship application letter.
International applicants (all citizenships) who moved to Norway for their bachelor studies and will complete a bachelor’s degree in Norway (full 180 ECTS) in spring of year of application.
International applicants with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA must not have a break in studies between the completion of their bachelor’s degree and the commencement of their master’s degree.
Female candidates who apply to and receive an offer of admission in one of the following programs:
- Business with major in Finance (Campus Oslo and Campus Bergen)
- Business Analytics
- Data Science for Business
- Finance
- Sustainable Finance
- Quantitative Finance
Female applicants in the 3rd year of the Sivok program are eligible to apply.

Note: International applicants with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland who are not residents of Norway are not eligible for this scholarship.

How to apply:

Applications for scholarship are not accepted by email, with the exception of 3rd year Sivøk applicants (see below).
Always apply for a scholarship at the same time as you apply for admission on the online application portal.
Write a scholarship application letter, maximum one-page, outlining why you should be considered for this scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
Upload it to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
Include all the required documentation to be evaluated for admission to a Master of Science program. The scholarship application will only be considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.
BI students currently in their 3rd year of the Siviløkonom program, can apply the spring of their 3rd year by sending a scholarship application letter to info@bi.no with the subject line: Women in Finance and Tech Master Scholarship Application
Applicants who apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship and the MSc International Scholarship will also be considered for this scholarship. A separate scholarship application letter is not required.

Application deadline:

Application deadline is March 1.

International and domestic applicants: A complete application for admission, including your scholarship application, must be uploaded to the online application portal. Applications for scholarship are not accepted by email.

Siviløkonom 3rd year students: Scholarship application letters must be emailed to info@bi.no.

Late applications will not be considered.
