Join the Fellowship to Empower Disability Leaders and Promote Inclusion

As a bridge to a fair, inclusive, and just world, WID’s Global Heumann Fellowship Program will uphold and expand Judy’s legacy by assisting disability leaders and advocates worldwide in their efforts to advance disability justice and rights in their local communities. Research, writing a white paper, networking, supporting chances for collaboration, and program development are among the tasks assigned to fellows in order to advance WID’s mission and strategic focus areas, which include: disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and climate resilience; global community inclusion; accessibility and universal design; regional and global policy; and the all-around power of activism.

Every fellow participates in a distinct range of activities during this 12-month fellowship term, including research strategies, advocacy, program development, and thought leadership on national and international policy, as well as contributions to initiatives aimed at advancing the rights of people with disabilities worldwide. Fellows will prioritize identifying and spearheading research in their specific regions, areas of expertise, and in partnership with WID.

Qualifiability Standards:

Disabled visionary leaders with a track record of advocacy, communication, and powerful teamwork are sought after by the Global Heumann Fellowship. Must be able to maintain flexibility when working with a varied, international team and be productive when working remotely.

Timeline:

This is a part-time, twelve-month fellowship, with a term from July 2024 to July 2025. Individuals who have lived disability experience active in the disability community and have extensive experience or leadership within the disability rights and disability justice fields are encouraged to apply.

Location: Remote

Time Commitment: Part Time (Up to  20 hours/week)
