TMCF, Walmart Foundation First Generation Scholarships, 2024
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and the Walmart Foundation are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending one of TMCF’s member-schools. These schools include 53 publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs), medical schools, and law schools. Fifty-seven (57) scholars will be selected to receive a need-based scholarship up to $7,000 for the 2024-2025 academic school year. This scholarship can only be applied to verifiable costs associated with tuition and usual fees.

Eligible Countries: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or legal permanent residents with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551. They must also meet the following criteria:

- Be enrolled full-time as a freshman at a TMCF member-school during the 2024-2025 academic school year.
- Be a first-generation college student (first person in your immediate family to attend college).
- Have a current cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher from high school.
- Must have the 2024-2025 FAFSA on file at your selected university/college by the time of selection.
- Able to demonstrate a financial need.
Degree: The scholarship is for undergraduate studies.
Deadline: The application opens on April 4, 2024, and closes on May 17, 2024 (11:59 pm EST).

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Walmart Foundation are offering a need-based scholarship worth up to $7,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year. This scholarship can be used to cover tuition and fees at any of TMCF’s 53 member Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Are you eligible?
- You’ll be a full-time freshman at a TMCF member-school in 2024-2025.
- You’re a first-generation college student (no immediate family members attended college).
- You have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5.
- You’ve completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA by the selection time.
- You can demonstrate financial need.
- You’re a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident.
