Summary:
The assignment is for a Social Behavior Change Officer in Rwanda, with an expected start date of 01/05/2024. The duration is 12 months with a possibility of extension. The assignment is hosted by UNICEF. The volunteer’s role focuses on promoting effective parenting practices in collaboration with UNICEF Rwanda Country Office and key partners, including government and civil society organizations.
The tasks include conducting needs assessments, developing educational materials, organizing and facilitating parenting workshops and training sessions, engaging with local communities for outreach and awareness, building partnerships, contributing to online platforms, monitoring and evaluating programs, staying updated on research and best practices, and supporting other social and behavior change activities related to positive parenting education. The assignment aims to enhance parenting knowledge and skills in Rwanda, improve program content, and contribute to the well-being and development of children and families.

Requirements:
- Master degree or equivalent in Communication; Public Health; Education; social sciences; or any other relevant sciences.
- 3 years of experience in the field of social and behaviour change communication, media, public health, and other relevant development fields.
- Experience in community health, social mobilization, outbreak/risk communication, media, and development of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials will be an asset.
- Knowledge of the key actors in parenting education in Rwanda
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development. •Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, among others), email, and internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Have affinity with or interest in positive parenting education, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda.
