Summary:
This assignment involves upgrading the Grails framework (Java/Groovy/Grails) for an online volunteer position based in Switzerland. The focus is on the Sustainable Development Goal of decent work and economic growth. The volunteer will be required to work 16-20 hours per week for 12 weeks. The host entity is UNECE Switzerland.
The main tasks include studying and familiarizing with the current implementation and source code of the ITDB (Information Technology Database), upgrading the Grails framework from version 4 to version 6, ensuring the functionality of the web application and web services, and documenting the implementation through wiki updates. The assignment provides an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of IT systems supporting the work of UNECE in Switzerland.

Requirements:
- Knowledge of Java and Groovy language required
- Knowledge of relational databases required
- Experience in implementing secured REST APIs required
- Knowledge of Grails framework desirable – Experience in using IntelliJ IDEA IDE desirable
- Experience in using Jira desirable
- Experience in using containerized application (Docker) desirable
- Working knowledge in English
