Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Officer at MINUSCA in Bouar, Central African Republic

Summary:

The assignment is for a Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) Officer in the Central African Republic, working onsite for MINUSCA. The expected start date is 10/04/2024, and the expected end date is 30/06/2024. The assignment aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 16, focusing on peace, justice, and strong institutions. The duty station is in Bouar.

The DDR Officer will work under the direct supervision of a DDR team leader and perform various tasks, including participating in DDR and community violence reduction field operations, contributing to research and analysis, coordinating logistics for field missions and repatriation, conducting interviews, supporting DDR sensitization efforts, monitoring and reporting on security issues, assisting with high-level visits, and providing capacity development to national staff and counterparts. The officer will also contribute to documenting Lessons Learned and Best Practices in DDR operations in the Central African Republic.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a national of a country other than Central African Republic.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Political Science, International Relations, Conflict Analysis/Management/Resolution, Sociology, Anthropology, or similar relevant subject matter, with knowledge of logistics/operations and/or Public Relations.
  • 3 years of experience in international conflict, post-conflict, humanitarian response or community development context, out of which preferably 2 years of experience in DDR/RR, Security Sector Reform, or related areas.
  • Previous work experience with government, the military, the police, international organizations and bilateral agencies is an advantage.
  • Fluency in French and working knowledge in English.
  • Experience driving 4×4 vehicle, manual gear, over rough terrain Required Required.
