International Volunteer HQ’s Medical project offers an exciting opportunity for aspiring doctors to gain healthcare experience and observe clinical practice in a cross-cultural environment. Volunteers are assigned to a pediatric hospital in Phnom Penh, where they shadow local healthcare professionals. By participating in medical volunteering in Cambodia, volunteers contribute to improving access to healthcare and enhancing the well-being of the local population.

Fees:
The fees and the number of weeks vary depending on the volunteer’s choice, with program fees starting from $880 for 4 weeks. Additionally, all programs attract a registration fee of US$329, which covers all pre-departure support services. The program fee includes accommodation, meals, airport pick-up, orientation and 24/7 support.
The program duration:
The program duration depends on the volunteer’s choice, ranging from 4 weeks to 12 weeks.
Volunteer requirements:
Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to take part in this program.
Languages: Volunteers must be fluent in English.
Other requirements:
- Being in the fourth year of medical school.
- Possession of adequate volunteer travel insurance.
- Submitting a criminal background check to IVHQ prior to departure.
Aims:
- Increase access to healthcare for the local community by providing assistance to qualified medical professionals, enhancing healthcare services, and improving the overall well-being of the local people.
- Develop volunteers’ cross-cultural communication skills and immerse them in Khmer culture, providing exposure to diverse clinical practices and valuable healthcare experience that enhances their medical knowledge and future careers.
- Provide trainee doctors with the opportunity to observe clinical practice, gain valuable healthcare experience, and learn about the healthcare environment in Cambodia through placement in a pediatric hospital in Phnom Penh. Volunteers will have the chance to shadow local professionals in a cross-cultural setting.
