Summary: The USAID Science for Development Fellowships (SDF) Program 2024-2026 is a two-year program that allows American scientists and engineers to work at USAID and use their skills and knowledge to improve international development activities.

The deadline: February 29, 2024.

1. Application requirements: Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a doctorate degree or a master’s in engineering in any STEMM discipline (science, technology, engineering, math, medicine), including social sciences. They must apply by February 29, 2024.

2. Fellowship benefits: Fellows will gain direct experience in evidence-based decision-making, policy, and practice at USAID, as well as skill-building trainings, mentoring, career support, international travel, and a competitive salary and benefits. They will also join a network of higher education institutions committed to advancing STEMM education for global challenges.

3. Fellowship type: The fellowship is a full-time, immersive professional development opportunity for two years, with an optional third year. Fellows will work on critical international development issues in areas such as global health, food security, humanitarian assistance, economic growth, water and sanitation, climate change, environment, and energy.

4. Award Fellowships: USAID will host the inaugural cohort of SDF Fellows starting in the fall of 2024. The number of fellowships awarded will depend on the availability of funds and the quality of applications.
