UNFPA Representative in Uganda

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to serve as the UNFPA Representative in Uganda. This is a senior leadership position, tasked with advancing UNFPA’s mandate to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health, uphold reproductive rights, and promote sustainable development goals (SDGs) in Uganda.

Main Responsibilities UNFPA Representative:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to UNFPA’s operations in Uganda, ensuring alignment with national development priorities and global UNFPA strategies.
  • Advocate for UNFPA’s mandate on population and development, sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and youth empowerment with the government, civil society, and international stakeholders.
  • Oversee program design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to achieve impactful results.
  • Manage financial resources and ensure accountability, transparency, and efficiency in operations.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government bodies, UN agencies, donors, and other development partners to foster collaboration and resource mobilization.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, promoting a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and professional development.
  • Represent UNFPA at high-level events and discussions, positioning the organization as a leader in reproductive health and sustainable development.

Required Qualifications and Experience as UNFPA Representative:

  • Advanced university degree in public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in development programming, with a strong focus on population and reproductive health issues.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing complex programs, partnerships, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource mobilization and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with the political, social, and economic context of Uganda or similar settings is highly desirable.
