TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship

The 2024 TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Program is now accepting applications. For international scholars from developing nations in the South who want to work toward a PhD in a field related to the natural and applied sciences in departments and labs of public and private universities in Türkiye (Turkey) and TÜBİTAK Research Centers and Institutes, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and TWAS have established a sandwich fellowship program.

• Only online applications via the TÜBİTAK online application system through TYBS, which is available HERE, are accepted for the Fellowship. However, candidates must first build a profile on the TÜBİTAK Researcher Information System (ARBĨS) platform, which is accessible at https://arbis.tubitak.gov.tr, before they can access the online application form via TYBS.
• The Fellowships can be used for a minimum of six months and a maximum of twelve months in Turkey’s departments and labs of both public and private universities.

The following fields are included in the program’s eligibility:

a. Sciences of Agriculture
b. Molecular, Cell, and Structural Biology
c. Organisms and Biological Systems
d. Health and medical sciences, which encompass the neurosciences
e. Sciences of Chemistry
f. Sciences of Engineering g. Science of Astronomy, Space, and Earth
h. Sciences Mathematicales
i. Matter and energy
j. Information technology and computation.

Requirements:

• Applicants for these fellowships must meet the prerequisites indicated below:be nationals of one of the developing countries in the South (https://twas.org/developing-countries-south) and permanent residents of that country.
• Women and applicants from Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLC) are especially encouraged to apply.
• To access the STLC list, please visit https://twas.org/66-countries.
• NB: Developing nations not on the list are still welcome to apply.
• Must not possess a visa in order to enter Turkey or any other developed nation for a temporary or permanent stay.
• Those who have already arrived in Turkey, the host nation, are ineligible to apply for this fellowship.
• Possess a master’s degree, or a comparable one, in one of the aforementioned subjects in the natural and related applied sciences.
• be no older than 35 years old as of December 31, the application year.
• By the application deadline, the candidate must have enrolled in a doctoral program in natural and associated applied sciences (in the subjects listed in the call text) at a university in their native country or another developing nation.
• The candidate must be in an advanced stage of their PhD study in the natural sciences and related applied sciences or have passed the PhD qualifying exam (in the disciplines specified in the call text).
• Candidates must attest to this requirement with an official Registration & No Objection Certificate (see sample below or apply online at TÜBİTAK).
• This document, which needs to be submitted no later than three months before to the application deadline, must also include a brief description of the schedule and anticipated research.
