SDSN Regional Focal Point for Asia-Pacific

Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) is seeking a Regional Focal Point for Asia-Pacific to advance sustainable development initiatives in one of the world’s most dynamic regions. This role is central to supporting SDSN’s mission of mobilizing global expertise to solve the pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Main Responsibilities as SDSN Regional Focal Point:

    • Engage with SDSN member institutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
    • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among universities, research centers, and civil society organizations working on SDGs.
    • Regional Advocacy and Representation:
      • Represent SDSN at regional and international events related to sustainable development.
      • Advocate for regional priorities in the global sustainable development agenda.
      • Program and Project Support:
      • Assist in planning and implementing projects that advance the SDGs within the region.
      • Support flagship SDSN initiatives such as the SDG Index, SDG Academy, and local action strategies.
      • Communication and Outreach:
        • Prepare reports, updates, and communications highlighting regional activities and successes.
        • Strengthen visibility and engagement of SDSN’s Asia-Pacific efforts through social media and other channels.
        • Collaboration with Global Teams:
          • Act as a liaison between the SDSN Global Secretariat and regional stakeholders.
          • Ensure alignment of regional activities with SDSN’s global strategies.

Qualifications and Skills as SDSN Regional Focal Point:

  • Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in sustainable development, environmental science, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in sustainable development, project management, advocacy, or a related area.
    • Familiarity with the Asia-Pacific region’s challenges and opportunities related to the SDGs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multi-stakeholder partnerships.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English (additional regional languages are a plus).
