Mechanical Engineer at UNDP Overview

The Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and monitoring sustainable infrastructure and energy solutions. This includes ensuring compliance with international standards, addressing climate resilience, and promoting energy efficiency. The role also contributes to advancing the UNDP’s mission of sustainable development through innovative engineering solutions.

Main Responsibilities of Mechanical Engineer at UNDP

Project Design and Implementation:

    • Develop mechanical engineering designs for infrastructure and energy projects.
    • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.
    • Ensure designs meet sustainability and environmental standards.Monitoring and Evaluation:
      • Oversee the implementation of mechanical systems in projects, ensuring quality control.
      • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and compliance.
  1. Collaboration and Capacity Building:
    • Work with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and project managers.
    • Provide training and capacity-building sessions for local stakeholders.
  2. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations.
    • Document lessons learned and best practices for future projects.

Qualifications and Experience of Mechanical Engineer at UNDP

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. A master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, infrastructure development, or energy efficiency projects.
  • Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Strong knowledge of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate resilience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in English. Knowledge of additional UN languages is an asset.
