Eligibility / selection criteria

To be eligible for the Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Meet the following criteria:
    • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or Australian Permanent Resident with Humanitarian visa
  2. Meet the following enrolment criteria:
    • be a continuing Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2024
    • enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
    • enrolled in their final year at Swinburne and expecting to finish their course in 2024.
  3. Achieved outstanding academic results in their completed units.
  4. Submit a statement of no more than 500 words on the significance of the life of Sir Edward Weary Dunlop in respect of community service.
  5. Provide evidence of current involvement in community affairs which must have been continuous for a period of at least two years. Community service could include:
    • local government sponsored voluntary activity
    • work for a recognised charitable organisation
    • service with youth community organisations such as Scouts, Girl Guides, etc.
    • service through community sponsored sporting activities
    • community service through such schemes as the Duke of Edinburgh Award

Scholarship benefits

This scholarship is valued at $3,000 for one year only.

Applicants must complete an online application form and submit with all supporting documentation by 31 March 2024. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
