Royal Charter 40th Anniversary Scholarship at the University of Buckingham 2024

Summary:

The University of Buckingham celebrates its 40th anniversary of receiving the Royal Charter on February 11, 1983. In honor of this milestone, the university has established the Royal Charter 40th Anniversary Scholarship (RC40A) for exceptional applicants pursuing research degrees. PhD candidates across the seven schools of the university will receive awards in 2023, while MA/MSc by Research candidates will be eligible for awards annually from 2023 until 2025. Starting in 2026, the scheme will be renamed the University of Buckingham 50th Anniversary Research Scholarship (U50A) to commemorate the university’s incorporation in 1976. The scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence and professional potential, with specific criteria for home and international students.

Application Requirements:

    • PhD applicants: Typically require a Distinction at Master’s level and/or in the Master’s project/dissertation element, along with a strong CV and outline proposal.
    • Master’s by Research applicants: Normally expect a first-class undergraduate degree, strong performance in any dissertation element, and a robust CV and proposal.

Benefits:

    • Home Students: Under the RC40A scheme, successful home applicants have their entire fees covered by the university during their studies. They also gain professional work experience by contributing hours to departmental projects.
    • International Students: Successful international applicants are charged only the difference between UK and international fee rates, with the remainder of their fees paid by the university. Similar to home students, they also contribute to departmental projects.
