As an Education Specialist at UNICEF, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and monitoring education programs that address the needs of children, especially the most vulnerable. You will provide technical guidance to governments and partners to achieve education-related goals, including improving access, equity, and quality of education.
Main Responsibilities of Education Specialist at UNICEF:
- Program Development and Planning:
- Lead the development of innovative education programs and strategies.
- Conduct needs assessments and design initiatives tailored to local contexts.
- Align programs with UNICEF’s education priorities and Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
- Technical Support and Capacity Building:
- Provide expert guidance to governments and partners on education policies and strategies.
- Build capacity among education stakeholders, including teachers, policymakers, and organizations.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators for education programs.
- Conduct data analysis and reporting to measure the impact of education initiatives.
- Advocacy and Partnership:
- Advocate for equitable and inclusive education policies.
- Forge partnerships with government entities, NGOs, donors, and private sector actors to support education programs.
- Emergency Education Response:
- Support education in emergencies, ensuring continuity of learning for children affected by crises.
- Develop and implement strategies for delivering education in conflict and post-conflict contexts.
Education Specialist at UNICEF Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in education program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of global education trends, policies, and challenges, particularly in developing countries.
- Experience working with UN agencies, NGOs, or government entities is an asset.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in English and knowledge of another UN working language (e.g., French, Spanish) is preferred.
