Qualification:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, with preference given to second or third-year students.
  • Experience with Industrial Assessment Centers is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of operating various energy-using systems, such as Compressed Air Systems, Pumps, and Fans, Lighting, Dust Collection/Bag Houses, Electric Motors, HVAC, Energy Management Systems, etc.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency tools, such as US DOE MEASURE, is preferred.
  • Interest in gaining experience in energy efficiency or similar technologies.
  • Must be a team player capable of multitasking and handling complex and diverse tasks.
  • Well-organized, reliable, conscientious, and capable of managing resources and schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Enrolled in post-high school education for the Fall 2024 semester.
  • Completion of at least one year in a related field (preferred).
  • Considered a full-time student with a course load of 12 credits or more.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with energy teams to identify opportunities for energy savings.
  • Develop energy savings calculations for new and existing energy projects to prepare them for implementation.
  • Collect and analyze data and benchmark energy systems to evaluate their performance.
  • Document recommended energy practices that can be incorporated into the development of new energy systems.
  • Assist the plant’s energy teams in expanding energy monitoring systems by creating new dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), reports, and other related tools.
  • Research new technologies that can be implemented at Waupaca Foundry plants to enhance energy efficiency.
  • Provide support in updating energy regression models and carbon emissions baselines for Waupaca Foundry plants.
