Communication Officer Volunteer at WHO in Ndjamena, Chad

Summary:

This assignment is for a Communication Officer in Chad, starting on 01/04/2024, with a duration of 6 months. The goal is to promote Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good health and well-being). The tasks include developing a communications plan, producing public information materials, building media relations, monitoring media coverage, managing social media and website, supporting mis/disinformation monitoring, researching and writing feature stories, and collaborating on communication campaigns. The responsibilities involve enhancing media/communication activities, promoting WHO events and issues, ensuring media coverage, maintaining online platforms, and supporting advocacy efforts. In addition, the volunteer is expected to strengthen knowledge of volunteerism, engage with local volunteerism, contribute articles, assist with the UNV Buddy Programme, and promote online volunteering opportunities.

Ndjamena, Chad

Requirements:

  • Master degree or equivalent in Journalism, information management, communications, international relations, management/business or social science.
  • 3 years of experience in journalism and/or communications expert for a major national or international organization.
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Experience developing communication strategies, media, social and behavior change communication campaigns.
  • Proven experience of technical assistance in the field of communication, particularly in Africa and in countries in crisis or post-crisis situations.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Experience in documenting, capitalizing on and sharing the results of development programs.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint packages.
  • Experience with the UN will be an asset.
  • Fluent in French language is required and Working knowledge of English.
