Scholars at Risk Fellowship

Scholars at Risk Fellowship at University of Toronto 2024

Long Summary:

The University of Toronto is offering the Scholars at Risk Fellowship for the academic year 2024. This fellowship aims to provide financial support and foster community engagement for outstanding master’s and doctoral students. The fellowship is made possible through the generous funding of the Donner Canadian Foundation, the School of Graduate Studies, and Massey College.

Application Requirements:

  1. Eligibility: The fellowship is open to applicants of all nationalities.
  2. Enrollment: Applicants must be registered or have accepted an offer of admission as a new or transfer student to a full-time master’s or doctoral program at the University of Toronto for the upcoming academic year.
  3. Academic Excellence: Applicants should possess an exceptional academic record, as evidenced by transcripts and demonstrated research potential or other measures of scholarship.
  4. Leadership and Involvement: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the student experience through previous extracurricular leadership at a university or involvement in community outreach activities.
  5. Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need by completing a financial need assessment form.
  6. Special Consideration: Priority will be given to current or newly admitted graduate students who meet one of the following criteria:
    a) Individuals who have been asylum/refugee seekers within the last five years, regardless of their status in Canada.
    b) Individuals whose current or proposed program of study has been affected by changing political environments in their country of current or future study, including changes in immigration law.

Fellowship Benefits:

Successful applicants will receive a scholarship valued at up to CAD 10,000 for one year. In addition to the financial support, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in the vibrant community of Massey College, enhancing their academic endeavors and fostering connections with fellow scholars.
