Overview:
The objective of the Student Researcher Program at Google is to foster academic collaborations with students by providing research opportunities. Join us as a paid Student Researcher, where you will have the opportunity to work directly with Google research scientists and engineers on various research projects.
The Student Researcher Program offers increased flexibility and opportunities for research students to participate in critical research projects at Google in a less structured manner. This program provides flexibility in terms of duration, time commitment, and working location, allowing for both on-site and remote options. The research topics pursued by student researchers are often open-ended and exploratory, with deliverables that may differ from traditional internships.

Our projects utilize state-of-the-art computer science techniques developed by skilled software engineers and research scientists. Google Research teams collaborate closely with other teams across Google, ensuring adaptability and versatility to meet the fast-paced demands of the business world.
Minimum Requirements:
- Enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in one area of computer science, such as Natural Language Understanding, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Quantum Information Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or similar fields.
Preferred Requirements:
- Enrolled full-time in a degree program and planning to return after completing the internship.
- Currently attending a degree program in the United States.
- Previous research experience, including internships, full-time positions, or lab work.
- Contributions to research communities or efforts, including publications in major conferences or journals.
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, etc.
- Fluent in English communication.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in research activities aimed at developing solutions for real-world, large-scale problems.
