Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (all majors welcome)
- Strong commitment to community service and social responsibility
- A desire to learn about the unique challenges and opportunities facing Appalachia
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative under supervision
- Physically fit and able to perform some outdoor tasks (may vary by placement)
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific placement, but may include:
- Assisting with environmental restoration projects (e.g., planting trees, trail maintenance)
- Supporting educational programs in schools or community centers
- Contributing to community development initiatives (e.g., housing rehabilitation, food banks)
- Helping to preserve Appalachian culture and heritage (e.g., historical site maintenance, arts programs)
- Participating in community outreach and engagement activities
- Documenting your experiences and the impact of your service
