Stores Executive Leadership Internship Description:
The Stores Executive Leadership Internship at Target offers an immersive experience in a leadership role within a retail team at a Target store. This internship, which is a paid, full-time program consisting of 40 hours per week, provides hands-on training to develop and prepare interns for store leadership responsibilities. As a Stores Executive Intern, you will gain valuable insights into the Executive Team Leader position over a specific period. Throughout this internship in store management, you will closely collaborate with managers and team members to understand the inner workings of Target’s retail business and acquire the skills necessary to excel in a leadership role. While you will have exposure to various store departments, your main focus will be on learning how to lead a specific area of the store.
The objective of the program is to educate individuals on leadership within a retail store while working alongside the store team. You will learn about enhancing the guest experience, impacting your store’s financial and operational performance, and managing your team. With the guidance of a mentor, you will observe and learn effective leadership practices in your mentor’s department. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to take on a leadership role within your mentor’s department, with support and guidance provided. Your daily activities will involve learning to lead and motivate a team, driving sales, merchandising products, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Your development will be a priority, and ongoing conversations will support your growth. As you work alongside your team members to execute daily operations, your leadership will shape the culture and guide your team towards achieving goals.

- A typical day as a Stores Executive Intern will involve the following responsibilities:
- Spending time on the store sales floor and in the backroom, leading and aligning the team with daily business priorities.
- Working closely with your Executive Team Lead (ETL) mentor and other leaders to gain insights into their roles.
- Leading daily tasks such as stocking shelves, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for guests, and setting up displays.
- Collaborating with leaders to address team member performance through teaching, coaching, training, and providing timely feedback.
- Resolving team member concerns and removing obstacles to ensure smooth operations and goal achievement.
- Leading and presenting at daily huddles with the peer/leadership team.
- Planning daily goals and organizing plans within the facility.
- Providing summaries of results and priorities to the peer/leadership team.
- Conducting follow-ups on team member attendance and necessary coaching.
- Working with building leaders to set goals and expectations each day.
- Understanding business reporting and guest insights to identify and troubleshoot areas for improvement.
- Delivering exceptional guest experiences by ensuring knowledgeable and empowered team members.
- Offering new ideas and recommending solutions for business or team opportunities.
- Taking the initiative to learn and grow as a Target leader, seeking out development opportunities throughout the internship.
- Actively participating in internship program training activities, developmental opportunities, and events.
- Demonstrating a willingness to take risks, step out of your comfort zone, and take on new assignments.

Minimum Qualification:
To be eligible for the Stores Executive Leadership Internship at Target, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to access all areas of the store, including the sales floor, stockroom, and register area.
