Iowa 80 Group is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join their Marketing Department as a Social Media Marketing Intern. The internship is scheduled to begin in May 2024. The Marketing Department oversees multi-brand marketing efforts across various channels for brands such as The World’s Largest Truckstop, Joplin 44 Petro, Kenly 95 Petro, Effingham Chrome Shop, Truckomat Truck Washes, Walcott Truckers Jamboree, CAT Scale Company, and Iowa 80 Trucking Museum.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a full-time student enrolled in a major university or college, with a focus on Marketing. They should possess a strong drive and ambition to build a successful career in marketing or advertising. As a Social Media Marketing Intern, you will become an integral part of a small and close-knit team that is deeply passionate about promoting and enhancing the visibility of strong brands through engaging content.
This internship opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience in social media marketing, where you will have the chance to contribute to the development and execution of marketing strategies across various platforms. Qualification:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university, pursuing a degree in Marketing or a related field such as Public Relations.
- Availability to work Monday-Friday for a total of 40 hours per week, with flexibility for extended hours during events, which may include weekends.
- Occasional day travel may be required during the summer months.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, as effective written and verbal communication is essential for success in this role.
- A strong desire to learn and grow in the field of marketing and advertising.
- Ability to think creatively and pay close attention to detail, ensuring high-quality and engaging content.
- Proficiency in Office Suite, with knowledge of Adobe Photoshop being a plus.
- Familiarity with various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and Pinterest.
- The internship is a paid position, providing compensation for your work.
- You must have the permanent, legal right to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
- A background check and drug test will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
Responsibilities:
- Capturing and analyzing social media metrics: You will assist in tracking and analyzing the performance of social media campaigns, monitoring key metrics, and providing insights to optimize future strategies.
- Monitoring social media channels: You will keep a close eye on social media platforms to identify trending news, ideas, and topics relevant to the brands within Iowa 80 Group. This information will help inform content creation and engagement strategies.
- Assisting in content creation for digital advertisements: You will contribute to the creation of engaging and effective content for various digital advertisements, ensuring they align with brand guidelines and target audience preferences.
- Photographing as needed for social media and digital marketing: You will be responsible for capturing high-quality photographs that can be utilized on social media platforms or in digital marketing materials to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
- Assisting with digital content creation and calendar: You will collaborate with the team to generate compelling digital content, including social media posts, and contribute to the development of a content calendar for strategic and timely posting.
- Assisting with event preparation and coordination: You will support the preparation and coordination efforts for the 2024 Truckers Jamboree, a significant event within the Iowa 80 Group. This may involve various tasks related to event planning, logistics, and promotion.
- Day-to-day marketing and office-related tasks: As required, you may assist with general marketing and office-related tasks to support the overall operations and efficiency of the Marketing Department.
