Project Management Volunteer

Onsite Project Management Specialist Volunteer with UN-HABITAT UKR at Ukraine

Summary:

This opportunity is open for Ukrainians and legal residents at Ukraine who are aged between 18 to 80. It will be for 12 months with possibility of extension and the volunteer is expected to start at 26/08/2024.

Volunteer’s tasks include but not limited to the following:

  • Works with key stakeholders to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.
  • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, etc.
  • Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies.
  • Assists in performing consulting assignments, planning and organizing facilitating workshops, etc.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, inputs to communication materials, etc.
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Undertakes outreach activities; participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, etc.; participates in and makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
  • Participates in field missions, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.
  • Supports coordination of activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.)
  • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.

Location:

The assignment will be at Kyiv, Ukraine.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in project management, urban development, urban planning, geography, demography, social sciences, public administration, international relations, business administration.
  • 3 years of experience in project management, business administration, or other relevant programmes; experience with urban development/urban planning is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4×4 over rough terrain;
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in urban development, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
  • Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required.
