Permaculture and regenerative agriculture’s activity description

To fully apply and be considered as a candidate, please read all the information on the webpage below and fill out the application form you will find on fincaluna.org The program offers permaculture education, practical ecological farm work, and multicultural volunteer community experience, all with a focus on learning by doing. You will share this experience with a group of 6 volunteers from different countries, including Spain. Our small farm of 6,000 m2 is located in the northwest of the island of La Palma, Canary Island.

This nine-month experience is perfect for a solid introduction to the principles of permaculture design, the practice of regenerative agriculture, and the work and life on an ecological farm. We work 7 hours daily, ranging from routine farm work (garden, forest, animals, infrastructure maintenance), individual and group project development, workshops, and community work on other farms.

The objective of Permaculture and Regenerative Agriculture activity

The aim of our project is to train you so that you can become a social and environmental changemaker, improve your awareness of the natural environment, become a proactive actor in your personal and professional life, and become a leader in your community. We focus on learning by doing, where mistakes are part of the process. Our goal is to enhance your confidence and autonomy in conducting ecological farm tasks. Volunteers are trained through workshops (permaculture design, composting, microorganism development, etc.) offered by the coordinator as well as by fellow volunteers.

Participants profile

To be passionate about the environment, farming, and permaculture; To be willing to learn rural and manual skills and to enjoy doing physical hard work; Being ready to spend 5 months living and working on a farm with basic comfort and hot weather in summer; To be interested in permaculture design theory, Open-minded and predisposed to learning; ready to participate in maintenance activities such as cooking and cleaning; Commitment to learn basic Spanish before arrival. Preference will be given to candidates with fewer opportunities.
