Education & Qualifications Requirements:

Education:

  • One of the following (or equivalent):
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • University degree in Political Science or Development Economics
    • University degree in Public International Relations

Experience:

  • Minimum:
    • At least 2 years of experience in financial or program support functions.
    • Experience working with UN rules and regulations concerning administration, finance, and procurement.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working within the United Nations system.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of relevant financial management systems is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Report Writing & Communication:
    • Strong skills in drafting clear and concise reports, presentations, and communications.
    • Ability to gather and analyze data to effectively summarize findings.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
    • Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or German) is a desirable asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance of procurement activities with UN/UNU rules, regulations, policies, and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records by ensuring transactions are recorded in the appropriate chartfield.
  • Contribute to initiatives for workflow improvement and streamlining financial processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, or other tools to effectively present data and communicate information to management.
  • File and archive supporting work papers and documents.
