Summary:
United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in South Sudan is searching for a nutrition specialist volunteer. The candidate must be aged 27-80, and be a national of a country other than South Sudan. Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Nutrition Manager (Wasting) or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Nutrition Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the development and dissemination of a country roadmap for implementing updated guidelines on the Prevention and Management of Wasting and Nutritional Oedema. Additionally, this includes conducting a pilot program in 13 counties, developing supplemental operations guidelines with digitalized data collection and reporting plans, and engaging implementing partners and communities. In addition, the volunteer will integrate the UN Volunteers program mandate and participate in activities promoting volunteerism. The expected outputs include the success of the pilot, completion of training programs, capacity enhancements, support for documentation and publications, and the development of a roadmap for national-scale implementation beyond the initial 13 counties. Consequently, the duration of this assignment is 12 months.

Volunteer Requirements:

Master degree or equivalent in Public Health Nutrition or area related to Nutrition.
- At least 5 years of experience in working with Government and Non-Government Implementing Partners, with a focus on health outcomes; experience in CMAM is an asset, as well as experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
- Experience in localizing new WHO or other global health/ nutrition related guidelines will be an added advantage.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English; with excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural and social sensitivity, and the ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with the UN, government entities, partners at various levels, and grassroots community members.
- Proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and familiarity with database management and office technology equipment.
- Fluency in English at a fluent level.
