Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field (sophomores or juniors preferred)

• Excellent research and information gathering skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Experience with social media platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and write news articles, blog posts, or features on assigned local news stories
• Assist editors with fact-checking, proofreading, and content formatting for the Orlando Sentinel website
• Contribute to social media content creation for the Orlando Sentinel news section (may vary by internship)
• Attend press conferences and community events to gather information (may vary by internship)
• Conduct interviews with sources and collect multimedia content (photos, videos) (may vary by internship)
• Learn the editorial process from story ideation to publication
