Although free and fair elections have always been the cornerstone of American democracy, in 2024, the public’s
States are rushing to protect their systems from misinformation campaigns and cyberattacks. As November approaches, local election officials and poll workers—who are becoming more and more the objects of intimidation and threats—are for another storm.
The election is also a critical time for the media, which is experiencing a crisis of public trust of its own. The National Press Foundation will host a training conference in Detroit, Michigan, July 28–30, to assist in addressing the situation. This three-day course will focus on covering elections in depth rather than horse-race politics.
