MILEAD Fellows Program

MILEAD Moremi Initiative Leadership Empowerment and Development

Summary:

The MILEAD Fellows Program is a daring and revolutionary endeavor dedicated to the long-term leadership development of young, talented leaders chosen to be Fellows. Fellows gain from a blend of instruction, hands-on learning, and coaching designed to expand knowledge and abilities, build connections, and provide a nurturing environment for women’s leadership on important topics. Furthermore, the program connects driven young women with seasoned and powerful African leaders who are dedicated to empowering and motivating the next generation. Above all, the MILEAD Network provides Fellows with enduring support and camaraderie.

The intentional inclusion of community service throughout the one-year curriculum is one of our program’s unique selling points. Every Fellow will start and oversee a MiCHANGE (community change) project on a crucial topic that affects their neighborhood or all African women.

Fellows in the MILEAD Program get top-notch training, values, and support networks that are essential for their success as women leaders in the twenty-first century. Twenty-five exceptional young women who have shown promise for leadership in their community, organization, or field will be awarded the program.

MILEAD is looking for vibrant young women, ages 19 to 25, who are eager to develop their transformational leadership abilities in order to address challenges that affect women and girls in African communities. The curriculum includes a community transformation project and a three-week residential Summer Institute in Ghana. During the program, the chosen applicants may be employed full-time or part-time, except the three-week summer institute.

Programme Details:

  • Twenty-five outstanding young women from 25 different countries make up each class of MILEAD Fellows. They engage in community leadership projects and transformative leadership training over the course of a year, receiving support and guidance along the way.
  • Approximately 22 days of in-person instruction and continuous online learning are included in the one-year curriculum, in addition to time dedicated to community service and mentorship.
  • A three-week summer institute, continuing online seminars, unofficial networking, mentoring, community leadership initiatives, and professional exchange programs are all part of the MILEAD program.
  • The three-week summer institute is a residential training program that includes reading assignments, research, presentations, internships, interactions with influential leaders, trips to institutions, lectures, discussions, and workshops.

  • Among other things, fellows will develop outstanding leadership, activism, research, mentoring, public speaking, and advocacy abilities.
  • Known both domestically and internationally as one of the most promising female leaders in Africa.
