This dynamic role plays a pivotal role in shaping student success by developing and managing internship and field experience opportunities across various academic disciplines. You’ll collaborate with faculty, employers, and community partners to create a robust program that equips students with the practical skills and experiences needed to thrive in the workforce.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program development, internship coordination, or a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of higher education and career development best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with faculty, employers, and community partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems (experience with specific UMass Amherst systems a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive internship and field experience program for SBS students.
  • Oversee the internship application and placement process for students and employers.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate internships and field experiences into academic programs.
  • Cultivate relationships with employers and community partners to identify and develop internship opportunities.
  • Manage program logistics, including internship agreements, student onboarding, and program evaluation.
  • Provide support and guidance to students throughout the internship experience.
  • Oversee program budget and ensure compliance with university policies.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in internship and field experience programs.
