A 12-week internship program is offered by Schwan’s Company from May 20 to August 9, 2024. During the internship, the intern will have the opportunity to work on and assume responsibility for exciting and strategic projects that are directly related to the applicant’s coursework and have real-world applications.

Additionally, there will be frequent interactions facilitated between the intern with upper-level management, executives, and even the CEO, allowing for valuable networking and insights from experienced professionals in the field.

The internship also presents prospects for career growth for the intern within Schwan’s well-established food company, as it often leads to full-time job opportunities upon graduation. Emphasis is placed on creating a culture that focuses on ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of Schwan’s Company employees. Expected Responsibilities:

Interns Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing the production, packaging, or bakery production line to ensure compliance with company and USDA food safety standards.
  • Work towards achieving goals related to team member management, safety, product quality, productivity, yields, and scheduling.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify and propose improvement practices to enhance productivity and potentially decrease costs.
  • Analyze and interpret data to make informed decisions.
  • Present and communicate findings to various levels within Schwan’s, including non-technical audiences.

Skill Qualifications:

Interns Skill Requirement:

  • Proven leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating initiative and a sense of ownership towards work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication proficiencies.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Effective time management skills, enabling the timely completion of projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Confident self-starter who can navigate through challenges and make decisions even in uncertain situations.

Interns Education and Experience Requirement:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, with a focus on Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Expected to graduate in either December 2024 or May 2025.
  • Preferably, candidates with education or coursework in Food Manufacturing will be given preference.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
