Civic Innovation Challenge

Summary:
The Civic Innovation Challenge (CIVIC) is a multi-agency, federal research and action competition aiming to fund research-based, ready-to-implement pilot projects that address community-identified challenges. Projects tackle pressing issues in various domains, including:

  • Smart cities and connected communities
  • Economic competitiveness and workforce development
  • Climate change and resilience
  • Social equity and inclusion
  • Public health and safety

The program encourages collaboration between researchers, communities, and the private sector to develop and test innovative solutions, ultimately leading to:

  • Improved quality of life for citizens
  • Enhanced community resilience
  • Advancement of research and development
