About the Bursary:
- Value: Up to 4 scholarships are awarded annually. The bursary covers return airfare from North Queensland to your chosen location and living expenses for a four-week rural placement.
- Eligibility:
- Be enrolled full-time in the second year of James Cook University’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery program.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in rural medicine.
- Be able to secure a rural elective placement.
- Be a student in good academic standing with no disciplinary history.
- Selection Process:
- Stage 1: Written application (due June 21st, 2024) – Explain your reasons for applying, highlight your independence, resilience, and passion for rural medicine (500 words). Submit your application online and email your resume to [email address removed]
- Stage 2 (if shortlisted): Interview and Oral Presentation (July 23rd & 30th, 2024) – Attend an interview and deliver a 5-7 minute presentation about an aspect of rural health in Australia, designed for a North American audience.
