Internship – Wildlife Management

Summary:
Immerse yourself in the world of wildlife conservation with the SCA’s Wildlife Management Internship! This program offers a unique opportunity for passionate students to gain hands-on experience working alongside professionals on critical wildlife conservation projects. You’ll contribute to meaningful efforts to protect and restore wildlife habitats, populations, and ecosystems across the United States.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in wildlife biology, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field (upperclassmen preferred).
- Strong foundation in ecological principles and wildlife management practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in physically demanding outdoor environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver’s license (may be required).
- First-aid and CPR certification (preferred).
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities will vary depending on the specific project location and focus but may include:
- Assisting with wildlife surveys and monitoring programs (e.g., bird banding, mammal tracking)
- Participating in habitat restoration projects (e.g., planting native vegetation, and removing invasive species).
- Collecting and analyzing data to support wildlife management decisions.
- Educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation (in some programs).
- Maintaining field equipment and data records.
