Calling all plant enthusiasts! The University of Idaho, in partnership with the Blaine County Extension Office, is offering a hands-on Summer Internship in Gardening based in Hailey, Idaho. Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (minimum 12 credits completed within the last year). Priority will be given to University of Idaho students, but all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Passion for gardening, botany, or related fields.
- Strong interest in sustainable gardening practices and environmental stewardship.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and public interaction.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in completing tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance and operation of the Extension Office’s demonstration gardens.
- Participate in educational programs and workshops related to gardening techniques, plant selection, and pest control.
- Assist with leading youth gardening programs and community outreach initiatives.
- Conduct research and compile data on successful gardening practices in the unique high-altitude climate of Hailey.
- Help develop and distribute educational materials about gardening for local residents.
