Summary:
The International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) Southern African Bursary 2024 is now accepting applications. The bursary offers opportunities for up to six young Southern African journalists and up to five young German journalists. Southern African delegates will have the chance to work in Germany for two months, integrating into the host newsroom and conducting research for their home media.

The program aims to foster relations between Africa and Germany, promoting an integrated understanding between the two regions. Southern African delegates receive a fixed payment of €3,000 Euro, which covers most of their travel, accommodation, and living expenses. Participants are expected to use their own funds for additional costs, and payment for work with the host media is not provided.

Eligible applicants should be journalists from Southern Africa (SADC Member States and Kenya) between the ages of 25 and 40, with a strong command of the English language.
